DORN - Spiegel der Unendlichkeit

Spiegel der Unendlichkeit

German sounding black metal fan? Be sure to add this Frankfurt based three pieces to your list of bands to follow. Most of you surely already discover the trio through one of its previous releases. «Spiegel Der Unendlichkeit» is already the fourth collaboration with the Austrian label CCP Records and if I'm right the band also released a first self released full length somewhere in the first months of the new millennium. This trio has an uncanny ability to mix elements of different musical scenes and astonishingly genres as black metal, dark doom metal, electro metal and more strangely pagan metal are coming to your mind at the listen of the ten songs recorded here... without actually sounding like something specific. The album delivers a good mix of intense brutyality (mainly in the vocal department), more catchy electro background (mainly bring in by the keyboards parts) the whole coupled with some almost ice-cold doom metal atmospheres which give the listener time to digest and savour the different styles. This kind of exercise in diverse structures and atmospheres is something warmly welcomed in those days when so many bands are just trying to follow the same and usual musical paths. Dorn are an almost unique musical encounter somewhere at the cross roads of different genres and rules. Try.
