Das Original-Review gibts hier. DORN - Spiegel der Unendlichkeit
Dorn is a German Death metal band with Black metal influences and lots of keyboards, played like in Avantgarde or Viking metal. The band started in 1998 when keyboardplayer Roberto of the German band Riger decided to write some own songs. In 2000 the bands first album was released by the name of Falschheit. By that time it was still the one-man project of Roberto. After this album Roberto decided to leave Riger. Two albums followed, by the names Brennende Kälte and Schatten der Vergangenheit. After that Roberto decided to form a band to be able to play the music live. In 2003 the first full line-up was formed. The line-up went to some changes and the band is now a three man band with Roberto doing the vocals, guitars and keyboards, Micha playing the bass and Sebastian playing the drums. Spiegel der Entlichkeit is the fifth album by Dorn. The band has formed a really nice atmospheric sound. Strong riffs, with a very nice grunt, backed up by the keyboard melodies. If you don't like keyboard, you don't have to take the trouble listening to Dorn. Their music is filled with it. There was a time when I detested the synth sounds, but now I've heard a lot of bands who use it very well and Dorn is one of them. Spiegel der Entlichkeit is a magnificant album, with the song Nachtblut, which means nightblood as one of the highlights. The atmosphere is good, the vocals are strong and the keyboard is nicely used to lift up the music to a higher level. If you like bands like Thyrfing, Falkenbach or XIV Dark Centuries, you should really listen to this record. Rating: 85/100Review was written by: Stefan |
